Of paper, of light

invitation to the art exhibition of paper of light

Of paper, of light

Paper and light are the main characteristics of this unique art exhibition: Mauro Fissore is an artist-artisan who creates beautiful harmonious sculptures with self-produced paper.

“I have always been fascinated by paper, a magic medium for the transmission of the written word and, at the same time, a versatile material. However, there was a moment in my life when paper became my inseparable travel companion, an instrument which became indispensable to me in the search for harmony, a means to represent beauty, to reveal fragments of memories that I have carried with me through life’s journeys” writes Mauro Fissore in the introduction text of the catalogue.

Critic introduction

The critic introduction has been written by Sara Merlino and perfectly describes the work and the poetry of Mauro Fissore’s art: “A poetical universe, born of gentle, meditative and measured gestures. Mauro Fissore is what he creates; his soul resides in each work from the moment in which it begins to germinate in his mind, until the last fragment of paper finds its place in its space. A coherent search for harmony, between the artist and his work permeates his creative world. Harmony exists between the sculptures and the space they occupy, in much the same way as it exists in the nuances of colour. Harmony reigns between the materials used and the craftsmanship with which they are assembled through much patient dovetailing of joints. Harmony exists between light and shade, between matter and emptiness, and gives life to that balance which seems both innate and spontaneous in his sculptures.”
