Elisa Rossi, new painter at our Gallery
Elisa Rossi is a young venetian painter who lives and works in Treviso (Italy).
She is going to exhibit at our gallery some of her most recent artworks, part of the Limine series.
As she explained, “The Limine [a refined Italian term for “threshold]” series represents an investigation on the idea of doorway, meant as a border mark, as a passage from one condition to another. Therefore I chose to examine several evoking elements which refer to a separation or a union of two separated fields, not only as identification of a physical space but especially as passage from one level to another: from the visible to what is right beyond the imaginable, from material to spiritual. This is why I focused on carpets, laces, veils, ladders…
Ladders clearly are gradual admissions to elsewhere.
Besides their decorative purpose, carpets delimit a space which symbolically becomes for prayers.
Laces become means for concentration and meditation thanks to their execution, recurring and ritual.
Veils symbolize one’s total focus on oneself, behind veils each figure belongs to itself, held back and powerful and, in the right way, far and shielded.
