“In the space of the Cross”: The Group Exhibition at its second step, in the San Rocco Church, Venice, till the end of October 2010.
“In Canaletto’s pictures and in those of other artists of the eighteenth century you can often see paintings exhibited in the Campo San Rocco on the occasion of the Patron Saint’s Day.
It is with great pleasure that the Scuola Grande named after him can now reawaken this ancient tradition, putting on show in the Church consecrated to the Saint, works of contemporary artists.
The theme of Christ Crucified is certainly one of the most appropriate to allow the comparison between the difficult search of our times with the figurations of the Venetian painting of the republican Age.
To remind all that art is still, in our hard times, the most genuine and intense expression of the human soul.”
(Franco Posocco, Guardian Grando of the Scuola Grande di San Rocco)
